PBIS Positive Behavior Intervention and Support
Buccaneer Pride Ship with sails labeled kind, respectful and responsible

WHAT IS PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It seeks to reduce or eliminate poor behavior school-wide through the encouragement of positive behaviors.  The goal of PBIS is to create a positive school climate, in which students learn and grow with a feeling of safety, school pride, and respect.

PRIDE BUCCS

The PBIS program at Covington Schools is called Pride Buccs, and our logo is a Buccaneer ship with three sails. Each of these sails represents one of our three main values.

The Covington school community works hard to promote positive behavior and choices while in the classroom, halls, lunchroom, specials, at recess, and on the bus!

Teachers and staff are always on the lookout for students who are demonstrating one or more of our 3 sails including:

  • Being Respectful

  • Being Responsible

  • Being Kind

PBIS looks different in the elementary, middle school, and high school as we are adapting and changing to meet the developmental needs of our students.
